Gone Rollin’

We have all been going through a lot of these this past week:

First my husband was sick, then the four year old, then me. We are all feeling much better except for some runny-noses and coughs that keeps hanging on. Oh, and the four year old continues to whine. But, that might have nothing to do with the illness.

So, today we needed to get out of the house. We had missed out on the nice weather on Friday, and of course as luck would have it Sunday was gray, and chilly. We decided to head out to the bowling alley. At first Bear was too cool for bowling (or rolling as he calls it!).

Then he got some lessons from dear ol’ dad who apparently didn’t forget how to bowl despite not having played in 10 years!

Fun was had in the end! Despite the ugly shoes.

And, as you can see Bear was quite the pro!

Yesterday we took to the hill for some sledding. It was Bear’s first time out on the “slopes” . This morning he asked – “can we go play sledding” – so I guess he enjoyed it.

Sticks, Boxes, and Glubs ( I mean Gloves)

I probably should have informed you all before Christmas – before you spent hundreds on toys and games- but sadly I forgot. I am reminded every birthday and Christmas of this fact.

Kids don’t need toys.

No s*&t Sherlock. In fact this year the Toy Hall of Fame recognized this fact, after years of Atari, Mr. Potatoe Head, Etch-a-Sketch, Barbie, Hula Hoops, and Lego – they inducted a stick into the hall, to sit side by side the cardboard box (the box was the hit at this event).

Perhaps next year they will induct – “the glove” – or “glub” as my son calls it. “Glub Ball” – a great sport where one throws a glove back and forth between two or three individuals. This was the hot game this holiday at Bobbe and Papa G’s house. Even Lightning McQueen and a snazzy new Porsche couldn’t compete with the rolled up glove. Bear enjoyed this game so much he made sure that Bobbe gave him one glove, rolled up – to take home. Good thing she buys cheap gloves, it will make the parting a bit easier.
